๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก I let Claude loose on my stats - here's what happened

"Passive income gives you choices you didn't have before."

What are your stats trying to tell you?

Hey Reader

From My Desk

Something a little different from me this week, not my usual Etsy or stock content, but stick with me because I think you'll find this useful.

A couple of weeks ago, I got an email from Google Search Console telling me I'd had a spike in views on my website. I'd been putting a lot of work into it recently, so I was curious, but I'm not someone who finds analytics dashboards that easy to read. All those numbers and graphs ๐Ÿ“ˆ

So instead of staring at it and hoping it made sense, I took some screenshots and uploaded them to Claude and asked it to explain what was happening in plain English.
โ€‹

It did. Really well, actually. It spotted which page had driven the spike, why it was likely happening and what I could do to build on it. We even used the findings to update a blog post that had been getting almost no views.
โ€‹

The following week, I did the same thing with my Pinterest stats - this time, I exported a CSV file and uploaded that instead - same result. Clear insights, no spreadsheet headaches.

Here's the thing: you can do this with your Etsy stats, too. And if you've never looked at your Etsy data properly, this is the easiest way to start.

Your next step

Download your Etsy stats CSV (go to Shop Manager -> Stats -> Export) and upload to Claude, Chat GPT, or whichever AI tool you use. Then paste in one of these prompts:

  • Simple version: "I've uploaded my Etsy stats. Can you tell me in plain English what's working and what isn't, and give me 3 things I could do this week to get more views or sales?"
  • Deeper version: "I've uploaded my Etsy stats CSV. Please analyse this data and tell me: which listings are getting the most views but the fewest sales, which listings are getting low views despite being live for a while, and where the biggest gap is between my traffic and my conversions. For each finding, give me one specific thing I can change or test this week"

One note: Etsy's CSV won't include your tags, but it will show views, visits, conversion rate and revenue per listing - which is honestly where a lot of the useful insights are.

Worth a Look

๐Ÿ“‹ Etsy: Etsy has just launched a new "interested shopper" offer that automatically sends a discount to anyone who's been browsing your listings but hasn't bought yet. It's worth switching on if you haven't already; head to Shop Manager โ†’ Sales and Discounts to set it up.

๐Ÿ“ธ Stock: Did you know Adobe Stock and Shutterstock now pay contributors when their images are used in AI training datasets? It shows up as a separate payment alongside your usual downloads. Worth checking your dashboard if you haven't noticed it before.

Hit reply and tell me: have you ever looked properly at your Etsy stats, or does opening the dashboard make your eyes glaze over?

Nicky x

"You're not just taking photos, you're building assets." Is your Etsy shop collecting dust? Hey Reader The Real Life Bit Last week, I worked on a blog I've been meaning to write for a while: a proper guide to maintaining your Etsy shop once the initial setup excitement wears off. I took a look at one of my older listings that needed a bit of a refresh. I went straight to eRank and checked out the keywords that I wrote with the listing when I first published it. It never ceases to amaze me how...

"Small, consistent steps create lasting freedom in your photography business." Why keywording is half the battle Hey Reader Have you ever uploaded a batch of images, crossed your fingers, and hoped for sales? I've done it too. But here's the truth: Stock photos don't sell because they're online - they sell because they're findable. That means your keywords, titles, and descriptions matter as much as the image itself. Buyers aren't searching for vague or poorly written descriptions like:...

"Your everyday images have more value than you think." One theme stood out immediately Hey Reader Last week I posted a simple question on Facebook. "If you could give your younger photographer self one piece of advice, what would it be?" I didn't expect the response it got. Over 250+ photographers replied. What surprised me most wasn't the variety. It was how similar the answers were. Very few people mentioned gear. Almost no one mentioned social media. Most said things like: Just shoot more...
