๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก The Etsy maintenance habit most photography sellers skip

"You're not just taking photos, you're building assets."

Is your Etsy shop collecting dust?

Hey Reader

The Real Life Bit

Last week, I worked on a blog I've been meaning to write for a while: a proper guide to maintaining your Etsy shop once the initial setup excitement wears off.

I took a look at one of my older listings that needed a bit of a refresh. I went straight to eRank and checked out the keywords that I wrote with the listing when I first published it. It never ceases to amaze me how much keywords change. I also used Etsy itself and started typing into the search bar to identify new keywords buyers were now searching with.

I continued looking through my Etsy shop and realised I had been so busy the last couple of months that I had more tweaking, editing, and updating than I thought.

So, I stripped it right back. Ten areas. Clear and practical.

The thing that helped most was reminding myself that Etsy rewards consistency over perfection. Small actions, done regularly, beat big overhauls once a year every time.

Now it's your turn.

This week, I want you to pick one listing in your shop and give it a quick ten-minute MOT.

  • Title: Read it loud. Does it say what it is, who it's for, and what makes it worth buying? If not, rewrite it.
  • Tags: Are you using all 13? If not, add a couple of long-tail keywords (think "Scottish landscape bedroom wall art print" rather than just "landscape print").
  • First photo: Would it stop you mid-scroll? If you're not sure, it probably wouldn't.

One listing. Ten minutes. That's it.

One helpful thing.

I published the full blog yesterday, and it walks through all ten areas of an Etsy shop maintenance, from mastering your fees to earning your Star Seller badge and knowing when (and when not) to use holiday mode.

If you've ever wondered whether your shop is doing everything it should, it's worth a read.

How do I maintain my Etsy shop?

This week, I'm sharing some of the tools I use to boost engagement on my posts.

I hope you get some value from it. Hit reply and let me know what you thought.

Nicky x

"Consistency builds confidence - and income." Views, visits & conversions. Hey Reader From My Desk Many photographers I speak with who sell on Etsy have a gut feeling about how their shop is doing. A good week feels like momentum. A quiet week feels like something's wrong. But very few actually sit down and look at whether their shop is genuinely healthy, or just occasionally lucky. There's a difference between a shop that sells and a shop that works. A shop that works has titles buyers...

"You're closer to results than you think, so cut one task that stalls you and do the one that moves you." The Extra Shot Hey Reader Have you ever had the 'why didn't I try this sooner moment?' My husband has always been an avid monopod user; personally, unless I was shooting video, I never used one. I was in a discussion thread on Facebook several weeks ago where the topic was monopods vs tripods. Someone shared a monopod that has 3 fold-out feet to convert to a tripod. I was intrigued, so I...

"Small, consistent steps create lasting freedom in your photography business." Hey Reader From My Desk I check what's trending across the stock libraries every few weeks. Partly for 'The Extra Shot', partly because it keeps me honest about what I'm actually shooting versus what's selling. This week, one search term stopped me. "Moonlit night" is up 163% on Shutterstock. My first thought was that it was a random spike, the kind of thing that jumps for a week and disappears. Then I did the...
