I used to treat every shoot like it only had one job.

Etsy day. Stock day. Content day.

Three separate plans for the same camera, three separate trips out, three separate mental lists, and somehow I never had enough time to do any of them properly.

I kept trying to squeeze in more shoot days to keep up, but all that got me was more tired and feeling overwhelmed that I just wasn't good enough at any of it.

Then a friend asked me an obvious question I hadn't thought to ask myself: "Why are you leaving the house three times a week for the same location"

Something clicked.

I went back through my last few shoots and started to look at them differently, not 'what is this shoot for', but 'what else can this shoot give me'. The same gorgeous lighting that made a stunning wall art print also gave me four solid stock uploads, just with a wider crop, copy space and a couple of extra frames I'd normally just skip.

One session. Two income streams. Same tiredness, double the output.

The lesson I want to leave you with: it's not always about shooting more; sometimes it's about asking more of what you're already shooting.

Next time you've got a shoot in the diary, pause before you leave the house and ask yourself: what's this for, and what else could it be for?

Write down 1 Etsy product this session could become, and 1 stock upload it could double as, just one of each, nothing more. Then, once you've got your Etsy shot, take 3 extra frames straight after: a wider crop, a close-up or different angle, and one with copy space.

Three extra frames. One extra income. That's it.

Etsy. Buyer-focused titles are massively outperforming keyword-stuffed ones. Etsy's search increasingly rewards listings written by a real person, for a person, not the algorithm: clear, specific, focused on what the piece is and who it suits. Worth a look at your top 3 listings this week.

Stock. If you're already shooting a scene for one purpose, it's worth asking whether a stock library would want it too. Buyers want authentic, human imagery that's harder for AI to fake, and a scene you're already shooting often qualifies with no extra effort.

A fellow photographer flagged my new favourite camera accessory in a Facebook thread a couple of weeks ago: a carbon fibre monopod. Now, I've always been a tripod photographer; long exposures and landscapes will do that to you. But my tripod on some shoots can become a little heavy. My new monopod actually has feet!
